Lots has happened since my last blog. I didn't think it was possible but our group of 23 girls are getting along really well and have already gotten so close. We've had class this whole week and although it's only two classes, it is SOOO hard for me to stay focused. In case you are not aware yet I got an offer from both Beaumont hospital and Ingham Regional Medical Center. I have not fully decided where I want to go yet but am leaning towards Ingham. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Anyway, back to my travels, yesterday we went to this place and learned how to cook like a true greek woman. The food we made was delicious but of course my favorite was the bread and potatoes. Oh, and the strawberry desert! Maybe, I'll attempt to make some of this stuff when I get back to the states...ha, who am I kidding? I take after my mother. Meaning, I DO NOT COOK! lol
After eating we learned some traditional greek dances. One of them was traditionally for men only. We had to try it and it was rough. There was a lot of finger snapping and hitting your foot as to say "you're in my shoe" I'm still not really sure why anyone would feel the desire to say that. When in Greece is the saying isn't it? hehe. Well, maybe it's not the famous one, but it's been my saying the past 2 weeks.
We also visited a beautiful church with golds, and silvers, and pastels, not a traditionally decorated church for the Greece. You don't see churches these beautiful in America. After, we indulged in Turkish coffee and some yummy greek tea. Apparently, one's future can be read from the cup once the coffee is drank. Sofia, had some pretty interesting predictions...
The night ended with a BANG! literally! While out on the town enjoying some drinks out side there was an all over blackout! We thought that the world was really going to end! Then, to make matters worse, there was a huge BANG and smoke only a couple buildings away from us. It sounded like a bomb (not that I know what that would sound like). Fortunately, the power came back on shortly and we were still alive. It turns out that there was an earthquake in Turkey which caused the power-outage.
Our night continued on but when the Monkey bar closed some of us just weren't ready to leave. So, we went to another bar that was open until 6. They charged a $5 cover though and we were not happy about it. I ended up talking them down to $20 for 6. Not too shabby. The whole day was a great success!
Now I'm off to enjoy a book and the sun :)
phrase of the day: Me lenny Sam = My name is Sam
