Pollie was very good and clever today
Pointing on the map a huge dam about size of Garieb Dan
We are heading for Merida in the west of Spain ( near border of Portugal ) and. Stumbled onto this village next to the huge reservoir of water
Now as in movies all villages in Spain are painted white and it is true
It is actually beautiful to see al these villages etched against the dry landscape
It is always tempting to drive inn there is always some interest that tickles me
If not a character behind a bar counter
Or just to look at the villagers come and go and there stares on us
Luckily Spain won the world cup in SA and so the Spaniards had a wonderful connection with our country
It always draws a smile on faces and in broken Spanish and hand gestures plus the Vuvuzela sound we are always made very welcome
Now this little town boasts with a
Roman baths hit water dating from the Roman occupation
The baths are somewhat old it must have had numerous upgrades since and we had dip this afternoon
They are very strict regarding showers before you enter and inspections on your body for open sores. Very health conscious these Europeans and only allowed 20 min in the hot pool. Which is not even as hot as the one in Badplaas in our SA
We could nor splash or dive and it went very civilized for the allotted 20 min
Can you believe it tomorrow is Sunday yes the baths do not open until after church at 13.30
Yes in these Villages the Catholic church still wields tremendous power on entertainment
We booked in very close to the Baths in a beautiful typical Spanish type hotel with a huge courtyard
All rooms up to 9 th floor opens up into this court yard
Oki doki Pollie is suffering now a lot with pain in her legs so we try drive less distances per day to give her more time to stretch and relax
Goodnight
