Well it's been a while since I bloggged. To be honest, since Paris, not much has been happening. Lots of work as usual, a few jaunts to the pub. food here and there.
Spring has hit with a bang though. It started to creep up on us a couple of weeks ago, until one thursday I woke up and thought it was really bright in my room... I've only ever seen it this bright when it's snowed. Lo and behold I open my blinds and it had snowed during the night. This was about 2 weeks go. However, Friday came around at about 12 degrees melted all the snow in a day and spring ensued in force. Last Saturday was the first day I actually went out without a coat in about 4 months. The first really nice sunny day. Naturally, all of us ended up in a pub on the first floor of a building outside on the balcony. I've told you before that CZ has this amazing way of hiding the whole city in cellars and in nooks and crannies so it si genuinely difficult to find places, particularly when people tell you somewhere in town to meet and you're standing outside the right number on the right street and you don't realzie you have to go down the stairs at the back or up the escalator. But in Summer, the places in full view put chairs n tables and decking out. Apparently there is an official date for this though, and its a month away. So we'll have to do with balcony bars until then.
So not really much to tell about the last couple of weeks really apart from that, but this week has been quite good for a change. Well not for a change but things seem to be getting going now. Classes have been nice, been trying to do different things and my masters applications are very nearly all sorted so even if no funding comes up, at least for the moment I feel like I'm making some progress. It's great travelling and working in different places, but I've realized that it's easy to get stuck and become stilted in exactly the same way as you do at home. I've fallen into this routine and becoming a bit of what we call an ILC drone. So I'm trying to break the routine a little bit now. I've started trying to get out n do a little bit of exercize and not sit in non-stops whenever anyone suggests it. Off to budapest next weekend for my birthday and then home the week after so it'll be good to shake things up a bit and get to see family when i come home.
I've been looking forward to coming back home. I didn't realize how out of touch I've become with some friends and things back at home and instead have been sitting here being boring. It'll be a nice little break before the last 3 month stint and then hopefully it'll be a good year at home (if i'm on a masters or not, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it). I'm going to try and make the most of the last few months, especially with the warmer weather here I think. Krakow, maybe bratislava and I still haven't even seen Prague yet, so there's a few things to look forward to, as well as trying to see a bit more of Brno and around it.
So like I said, quite a good week. There was another comedy night last night and the comedians were really good. We didnt realize until Jack (an avid fan of casualty back in the day) told us that the opening act used to be an actor on the programme and on hollyoaks before he quit and turned to comedy. Just starting out i think but he wasn't bad at all. The main bloke was reeeeally good too, I was crying with laughter at one point. He's quite cynical but down to earth, he was good.
Decided on splashing out slightly too this weekend and having a birthday meal with (hopefully!) about 15 people at one of the nicest bars in town. It's got quite a long history and has always been a bar or an inn I think, but it's really popular and you have to book tables (even to drink) so it must be good. I've only been inside on a sunday dinnertime but even midweek when you walk past it's packed so I'm hoping for good food and drink on saturday night. We'll see anyway.
So that's all for now, I'll update again with pictures after budapest. :)
