After a brilliant couple of weeks together Beki left Ko Tao this morning to go back to Hawaii via Bangkok. We have had the kind of blast you can only have with a friend of 20 years. Snorkelling, sun bathing, eating, laughing and the occasional cocktail has been the perfect way to start my new adventure.
I always thought travelling alone was my favourite (apart from you Kate!) but I've changed my mind now and sharing the numerous sunsets and funny things that happen with someone you love is very special indeed.
This post would be a novel if I tried to tell you everything but some highlights include: Looking for sharks on a Kayak, watching fire dancing on the beach, lounging in hammocks, lots of snorkelling and epic swims! ( Amazingly proud of you Beki) Hanging out in 7eleven to try and alleviate the constant sweating, applying tiger balm to many mossie bites, almost mastering the use of a moped after bumping into a wall within the first 5 mins (don't worry mum I insisted on helmets!), too many pineapple, banana and coconut shakes and of course the mother of all gossip/catch ups. In a word fab!
So now I am down to the serious business of diving and Beki has really got me sorted by finding the best dive school for me and cheap accommodation (complete with some Sibiga szhuzhing up/60 min make over style) round the corner. This means no need for long term moped rental which is a big bonus!
I officially start tomorrow by completing my EMR emergency first response course so that I can administer CPR etc and then Tuesday I do my Rescue course which apparently involves a day of hell with people falling off the boat and pretending to drown...I will be expected to jump in and rescue them a la CJ Parker from bay watch...hmmm we'll see!
I had already met some lovely people and even found a lamb roast dinner for Easter lunch today, I think I'm going to like it here :)
