Korea Rocks
Ok...so, japan was possibly the worst 2 days of my life i have had in a long long time......just awful. fistly...i got up at 6am to make sure i got to my ferry on time for 8am (thanks for the wake up call mom!)...departing at 9, but i had to pick up my tickets.....ok...so i got on the subway near to my house and headed towards where i have to change to get on the line to nampodong...which is very close to the ferry terminal. now...as you may recalll.....i have been to nampodong before as its where that ace market thingy is.....so, im on the tube, reading my book and im wondering why its taking so long. to be fair...i am half asleep, but i read on the train NAMPODONG...so...hey...im going the right way...right? NOOOOOOOOO.......after 45 minutes...to my horror...the train stops and everyone gets off.....END OF THE LINE.....and this is the moment i realise...IM ON THE WRONG TRAIN!.not only that....but im right at the other end of where i need to be. i was at NOPODONG........mortified i have to shell out a massive cab fair to get back to the terminal.....
so, i get my ticket, arrive in japan after a very smooth ride...the ferry isnt what you would expect...its kinda like a massive speedboat.....so, i meet some foreigners....and 2 guys latch onto me...one old, one young...both....WEIRD. american and odd. i havent been here long, but my independance has soared and i didnt like them latching on. i got over it though and we headed for the embassy. that bit was very straight forward....expensive in a cab though....and the old guy didnt chip in.....i was not happy. we go back to the hotel...which unfortunately they are staying at too....i make my excuses and sleep for 16 hours until the next morning. the younger guy has gone, i have to be at the ferry for 2pm, so i decide to leave at 11am to go get my visa, and then head to the terminal....this guy comes with me....acting macho...declaring he knows the way to walk it...in 15 mins...i think, ok...and go with him....35 bloody minutes later walking in the blazing heat, after me questioning him a thousand times and him fobbing me off, i declare ive had enough and cross the road to get the bus back.....he ends up walking off the bus without paying...i have to foot the bill for that too. i ask him for the cash and he says he will give it back to me...im on such a rush now i dont have time to argue, so anyway...the consulate closes for lunch at 12:30 for one hour....i told him i wanted my visa before then so i could make sure i get to my ferry on time. hes messed me about soooo much, sent me on the walk to knowhere....and when i blow up in his face about it...all he says is 'well, im just glad we got to see abit of japan'.....un-bloody-believeable! so, i miss the consulate...get there at 12:35, have to wait for an hour...outside, with this moron talking crap to me.
long story short, as im sure this is getting boring, i get my visa, grab a cab to the ferry, just make it...he RELUCTANTLY pays half the cab fare...even though hes going there too....i ditch him as im getting a different ferry.....get on...only to find we are not allowed to leave our seats at all during the journey....im curious to know why....and am informed that 'bad typhoon madame'......is the reason. seriously girl, i have NEVER been so scared in all my life. im a strong swimmer, but i thought that was the end for me. i was the only one in my cabin not being sick...i refused...no alcohol was present! ha ha!!! kids were crying.....the stewardesses were falling over......waves were actually going over the top of the boat....and it kept slamming into waves, so thank god there were seatbelts....describing it now does not do it justice......put it like this....my ferry was the last of today to do the trip...all of them now until monday are cancelled...its too dangerous. so 3 hours later...i rock up in korea...so sooooooo happy to be back....feeling so ill and not able walk in a straight line.
ive managed i think to emphasise the sheer awfulness of my trip...however..one thing remains...i am offically allowed to live and work in korea for one whole year.....that feels great...its in my passport and it finally feels real. ive been waiting for that feeling for a long time. so it wasnt all bad.
Well, I hope I haven't bored you too much with my moaning! I'm happy to be back......miss you all loads guys....
