The accommodation in Bicheno was nice and we started the day with a cooked breakfast - beautiful! Some did the blowhole and lookout in Bicheno others headed off along the beautiful sandy coast on a lovely day. The road hugs the coast nearly all the way, but we turned off to go to St Marys and visit the Elephants Pass pancake parlour.
Then back down to the coast and calling in at little villages along the way.
The Bay of Fires is really quite spectacular with it's beautiful white sand. I always thought it was called the Bay of Fires because of the orange lichen that grows on many of the rocks. But the early settlers thought the area was heavily inhabited due to the local aboriginal peoples fires that could be seen from the water. It is a fairly untouched coastline continuing north.
