Now we haven´t been as lazy as you would think meaning that we still left our ´new home´every now and then...

Our first trip to the town turned out to be the ´big search for the supermarket´ and it probably took us about 2 hours instead of 30 minutes...we heard that it is not safe to use the ATM´s in the streets and that there is one big supermarket that has an ATM that will actually give you your card back so we thought, great let´s go there to get some cash. Apparently, you had to walk a bit through town and then turn right when you see the big ¨yellow/ green¨sign...well, we must have missed that one so here we are walking and walking, wondering where it is. Now the problem was that, whenever we asked the locals to show us the way they either refused to help us by simply saying ¨they don´t know¨as most of the locals hate the supermarket due to the fact that they are big competitors for their small shops (and I can´t blame them for that) or they gave us wrong directions which might be related to the fact that we were not a hundred percent sure about the exact name of this supermarket :) when we came to the police station pretty much at the end of the town, we finally got clear directions by the policeman and made it to the supermarket! Well, at least we got to know the town and some of the locals :)

Then we also did some trips to tourist attractions in this area...these were also rather interesting, as the pictures can tell; especially when Marie got stuck in the mud or when we got picked up by a ute, sitting on the tray in the back, to bring us back to the bumpy road where we had to wait for the ¨chicken bus¨ to pick us up again! Lots of impressions you can get when travelling with the locals in these chicken buses and driving through the countryside...Guatemalan culture and beautiful scenery, just to mention a couple!

Now the next big trip we will do, will probably being during ¨descanso¨ from Casa Guatemala as volunteers usually work for approx 3 weeks and then have 1 week off to travel & have a rest so will keep you updated...
