81km on very hot day. Cool riding beside the canals, good coffee stop at Damme. Crossed into Holland at Sluis--Mike led the way over a canal bridge, the rest of the party went straight on. After a stop at a supermarket we cycled on and eventually came across Tony with a flat on his Brompton, which takes ages to fix, then further on,the others sheltering from the sun in the shade of a meagre hedge in a builders yard. Puncture fixed we moved on to the ferry at Kempers, where there was a long queue of mainly cyclists of all shapes and sizes. The crossing took barely 20 minutes and we were soon on our way, only stopping as the road was lifted up to allow a cluster of yachts through. Had a stop in middle burg as we were all hot and exhausted -- also a trip round the supermarket for supplies. Not much cooking took place when we eventually reached camp at 6 o'clock, and most campers retired early.
