After the KTV night we had about 3 hours sleep before we had to get up for our last day in Hohhot。
We went to the Inner Mongolian museum。 They had the most incredible collection of fossil, badly taxidermied creatures and chinglish I have ever seen。 Seriously, when I get facebook again (fingers crossed) then I am going to creat an album dedicated to Chinglish。 One of the best mistakes in the museaum was change spelt “chang‘e“。 The best thing I saw the whole holiday was a sign on the grass saying ”I was dissilent for your beautiful soul“。 Please let me know if you have any ideas as to what that means!!
After the museum we had hot pot for lunch。 It kind of turned into a feeding frenzy for meat between the boys, and there were a couple of occasions where hot pot went flying everywhere as people got burnt。
In the afternoon we went to a Llama temple。 It was beautiful。 Apparently it was unique because an emperor had worshipped there and therefore it was allowed to use gold paint and dragons in it‘s design。
Our tour guide talked about Dali Llamas of the past and how the current one was a thief and a murderer。 We were all very confused and asked him what he meant (he was talking about the Dali Llama – thief and murder should never be in the same sentence as that title)。 He said that he had stolen the Olympic torch (and later said that he had got his followers to steal it) and had caused the deaths of thousands of monks in Tibet。 Censorship is a very interesting thing!
That night we caught our train for another 20 hour journey to Shenyang。 Inner Mongolia was amazing and I was so happy to see everyone that I had met in Beijing again。 I hope to see them all again soon!!
