we are in Monteverde/Santa Elena atm in the middle of a cloudforest (rainforest with clouds). On the first night we went on a night tour in Monteverde to see some small mammals, unfortunately we only saw two....both possums....and one was dead. The guide did find a hole with a tarantula in, he lured in out with a stick and it was absolutely HUGE! Like the size of two hands! Yesterday we went ziplining in the canopy, there were 14 ziplines, one dropline and one tarzan swing. On the steepest zipline we were told to brake the whole way but James didnt and ended up being rugby tackled by a guide at the end to prevent him splattering into a tree at the end! On the dropline Will looked petrified as they moved him over the edge of a 100ft drop, even the ppl behind were laughing at him. Today we went up to the Santa Elena cloudforest without a guide, we saw loadsa hummigbirds and tons of crazy insects like giant centipedes but the best thing was the snake! On the path infront there was a massive snake which looked like it might be dead. Will taking control of the situation threw a stick at it, causing it to "run" away into the bushes, so we legged past it like little girls! Tomorrow we are off to La Fortuna where the Volcan Arenal is which constantly has lava flowing down it and kills tourists every couple of years due to toxic smog which engulfs them and also from lava eruptions. Lets hope we r not 1 on those lucky ppl!
