We´re in La Fortuna at the moment where Volcan Arenal is, the most active volcano in the world and always has lava flowing down it! We didnt want to have to spend all day on the public buses so we decied to pay more for the shuttle bus and boat ride which takes only 3hrs and on the boat ride we got a good view of the volcano. Again, like in the rest of the places we got hunted down by tourist touts and one even phoned the hostel to speak to us! we went on an organised trip to volcan arenal and the natural hot springs and we also went on a hike to a waterfall where we were told to smother our faces with volcanic mud. Apparently ppl pay a lot to put this mud on their faces so we are goin to sell it to anyone that wants it and send it in the post? We waited at a hotel overlooking the volcano for about 2hrs for the sun to set so we could see the lava flowing down, just as it set the clouds rolled in so we couldnt see anything! So we were a bit annoyed by that! but we saw loads of howler monkeys crossing over us in the forest just outside the hotel which was really good, there must of been like 20 of them! The best part of the day was at night, when we went to the natural hot springs which is basically a hot river. The hotel next to us charges 70 dollars entrance even tho its free for every1 just down the road, crazy stuff. There was a mini waterfall with a really strong current which pushed will over. It was so funny, he looked terrified as he tried to scramble the side. We then went on our own ¨´expedition¨´ up the river in the rainforesty bit which was amazing, we didnt want to go too far up because apparently the water is so hot it wud boil us. We went in an underground cave under the waterfall where will screamed like a girl because there giant maggots floating around, we both ran lol
