Aaaahh another great day here in Krumlov... Yesterday I took it easy, walking round town and the castle grounds, having sausage and beer.... this travelling is tough...
Last night the canadian guy Svein and me were heading out for a beer, and ran into an American we met earlier, named Ho. Ho thoyght beer was a good idea, so we decided on a roadie on the way to the pub. Now the Czech have this awesome system where if you return empty beer bottles to the supermarket, you get store credit of about 5 crowns per bottle. So we took all the empties from the hostel, took them to the supermarket and walked out with cold beers :) We then headed towards a pub on the river, drinking our free beer, which everyone knows tastes better than if you pay for it.
We waited at the pub while Ho got a pommy bloke he had met from his hostel, and arrived back with a 35 year old englishman. The guys name is toby, he in IT in London. This guy... an absolute crack up, like a character from lock stock or snatch. We had a local dark beer, which is probably the best beer I've ever had, tastes like caramel... then decided to head to a place called gypsy bar for dinner, had a plate of "gypsy goulash" with dumplings, which was like beef stew with cabbage.
Then we did of a bit of a pub crawl round town, not to every pub because cesky has 136 pubs in town. The town only has 15,000 people so thats a lot of pubs... We ended up at the local music club, which was full of older czech blokes trying to pick up the few women in there. The music was pretty amazing, they played old RnB, janet jackson etc. they then played Lou Begas "mambo no. 5" complete with film clip on projector. They then played sex bomb by tom jones again with the film clip. We danced away, taking the piss more or less, but the locals absoloutely loved the music. It felt like the music was building up to something and yes...... the Makerina... OMG the place f***ing exploded, they played the film clip while Ho filmed me doing the makerina with some 40 year old czech woman. Stand by for that video...
Probably the strangest club I've ever been to, but still a bit of fun. Ho and Svein both left today, and Toby was heading to the castle. I went to the tourist centre and bought a detailed area map to have a look. I picked the highest peak/mountain in the area which is called Kelt Mountain, and stands around 1200m. About 8 kays away, so I packed my little bag, bought a loaf of bread and some tuna, and headed for the hills. The top took me about 2.5 hours to get to, the path was pretty good, but at times I got a bit worried because the path sort of disappeared, and I had to just follow painted arrows on trees every now and then. But I made it to the top, the view was great, and theres a little old castle tower there which I climbed to get an awesome 360 degree view of the entire area. I found me a flat rock in the sun, took my shirt off to dry the sweat, and had my lunch. was up there for maybe an hour, and then headed back here. Now I'm sitting here smelling slightly like horses, and I'm going to have a shower. will upload the pics now as well.
So hope all is well, thanks for the emails, and keep em coming!
