Sitting here on my first day here at Krumlov. All is great, the place is awesome. Last night I just went down to the Hostel bar, had a beer and watched the place fill up with mostly locals. After a while, a group of gypsy type people came in, carrying instruments, guitar, violins, saxophones, double bass. They sat down on a table and started to tune their instruments. A guy from my dorm came down for a beer, a canadian named Sven, we were then joined by a group of 4 from hong kong, who all spoke excellent English. We were probably the only foriegn table there. The gypsy types started playing what I would describe as gypsy type music, but I think it was just traditional Czech, and the whole bar roared out the words with the singers. A good night....
Today I joined everyone in the hostel for brekkie, and we organised 3 of us that wanted to go rafting down the river. Me, Sven and a guy called Gun from Hong Kong. So after breakfast, we headed to the boatshed, hired our raft and got driven the 15 kays up-river to our launch spot. We bought some beer at the pub next to the river and began the slow journey back down to Ceske Krumlov. It was amazing scenery, hills on either side and dense pine forests. Gun was quite moved, and said he was close to tears, because there is nothing relaxing about hong kong, and he had never been on a river before. But we cracked our beers and went floating down, paddling and having the odd rush of a man made dams, with a path on the side for the rafts. Much like a giant rapids waterslide. Was great fun, perfect weather and great scenery. I got back and had the same lunch as yesterday, a 2 rolls, some salami, a 1.5 water and a bottle of beer for the equivilent of $1.20. I have no photos of the raft adventure, but Sven took some and will share them at some point later on. Gun also gave me his email, and said he will take me to the good yum cha when I'm in Honkers :).
I'm going to relax a while, before dinner... until next time....
