Still in Matsuyama. Went out last night and didn`t get back until about 5 in the morning. Tried to find a couple of bars lonely planet suggested. The first one wasn`t open and at first couldn`t find the other called the jet rock bar. Went into another bar and got fleeced, over 10 pounds for two beers which were barely more than half pints. Considered kicking up a fuss but the decided not in my best interests as the streets outside were crawling with suited hustlers who may or may not have been yakuza. Eventually found the jet rock bar and I was the only one in there other than the two bar staff and dj, bravo lonely planet you`ve done it again. Staff were friendly though and music was good. The women and man who ran the bar both had afro`s, the women looked particularly ridulous. Free food which was a plus. After about 30 mins some people poured in and I got chatting to a guy and girl. Got pretty drunk but the guy was drunk as well and bought me a bar to get me to stay. The girl had translate as his English was nearly as bad a s my japanese. Awoke at 8 when the alarm went of but hung over so paid for another night and wne tback to bed until about 2pm. Have just returned from Matsuyama-jo which is an original castle, most in Japan are concrete reconstructions. Really good and offered stunning views of the city. The hill top upon which it sits is wooded and the birds were hovering above the trees in force. Took the long way down following a mud path through the woods which made for a really pleasant stroll. Most be getting old that I have started describe walking as a pleasant stroll and a bath as relaxing. Might have a couple at rock jet tonight as they have an event going on, might actually get more than 5 people in the bar, we shall see. Will not be getting drunk though. Not certain where next, will see where the road, or in this case train tracks, take me tomorrow.
