First thing is first. YeS mum I have sorted my bank, number wasn`t the problem, it was finding a phone I could make international calls with from Japan. Cost me six pounds on the phone to them before they gave me a number I could make a collect call to. Turns out they stopped it because of security reasons again, f***ing useless. Mum or Dad please leave me your e-mail so if I have any private messages I can send them to you rather than using the blog which is temperemental.
After Morioka we headed to Tonno which is a small relxed town surronded by lush rolling hills. We rented out bikes and had a cycle around. Came across a steep set of steps lading up to a secluded shrine which was really nice.
From there we took a huge train journey right down to Japans southern island Kyushu. The main city which we headed to is Fukouko. We had to make 5 transfers but the trains here are flawless. Supposed to be a banging city but was dead when we went out, same as most places on a tuesday I suppose.
Caught the train to Beppu today which is an onsen town. An onsen for those who don`t know is a hot spring for soaking in. Japan has over 3000, more than anywhere else in the world. Headed for one which has an rotemburo(outside onsen). Quite self cncious tripping naked in front of a bunch of Japanese men but soon relaxed, naturally my penis is much larger than theirs. Few different themed onsen, my favourites were the rock bath and outside bath which was really nice. Spent about an hour trying the different onsen out before I started to feel dizzy because of the heat. Very relaxing though. Headed to a sex musuem after which was pretty tame but had a semi-funny diorama involving snow white and the seven dwarfs. To many giant wooden c*** for my tastes, craig would have liked it. Beppu also has Jigura(my spelling is all over the place with thisblog, can`t be bothered to look up Japanese word). These are onsen for looking at. I only visited one and didn`t bother with the pass for all 12 fortunatly. Pretty much a pool with loads of steam coming from it and surronded by dragons, rather rubbish tourist trap. Steam emerged from grates and drains all over Beppu which is pretty cool. Plan to check out couple more places in Kyushu before heading to the eastern Shikoko to complete the set of four, not including all of the small islands of course. Probably head to Nagasaki tomorrow.
