On our second day in LA we visited downtown LA and Hollywood. There is no real discernible centre to LA and not much to see in downtown LA. We went to Little China town and Little Tokyo which were ok but not exactly exciting. Had lunch at a little chinese restuarant in which we were the only non chinese. Large plate of cheap pork fried rice for a barely nothing. Visted Disney theatre, cool building shaped like Mickey Mouses head, at least thats what I think it was suppossed to be. Moved onto Hollwood after on the LA sub. Hollywood is s***. The stars on Hollywood Boulavard are interesting for all of 5 seconds as are the handprints at the famous chinese theatre. Can see the Hollywood sign in the distance, yawn. Bunch of people dressed up as movie characters along the boulavard, for some reason people were paying to have their photos taken with them like they were real stars. Some Paris Hiltonites came past in a limo shouting "Come party with us" Would rather shoot myself. Had an early night.
Better day today. Rented bikes and biked along the pacific to Venice which is full of eating places and shops selling tat. Biked to the top of Santa Monica. Spent the rest of the day on the beach. Will treat ourselves to a few beers tonight as we have been good by saving money, eating pasta at the hostel ect. Were planning to head to Santa Barbara tomorrow, can stay at the Windmill Inn from sideways for cheap but akward to get to so heading straight to San Luis Obispo instead. Little bit of wine country in Obispo as well and might hit Santa Barbara wine country on the way back if we rent a car.
