So on Thursday, Sam decided he'd better do some work, seeing as he'd taken the last 2 days off to show me around.... He headed out to some meetings, and I spent the day lying at the pool, and soaking up the wonderful sunshine!!! The weather in Sacremento was so much warmer than Washington & Oregon States, so I guess that's why they call it the golden state..... Actually Sam informed me it's really called the golden state, because in the summer months all the greenery turns golden brown, because of the lack of rain during the summer months, and everything takes on a golden hue.... I think I prefer the warm golden sunshine as the reason for naming it the golden state ~ it suits me anyway!!! So, I actually managed a bit of a tan, and was feeling so great after a little vitamin D injection!!!
That night we went out for a BBQ at friends of Sam & Cherie's. What an experience!!! So, picture the scene!! There were 3 Steve's, 2 of them are both called Steve Gordon - no relations!!!! and then another Steve, (whose house we were at)... one of the steve gordons was a short Greek guy, married to Beth, and then the other Steve Gordon was 6ft5in, and he was married to Camy. Steve (the host)'s wife was Ronda - all really lovely people, and there were about 6 kids running around too, so Steve finishes the meat on the BBQ, and all the adults sit down at the table to eat, and there are these 4 big burley LOUD americans, who have all had a few too many largers too, and the noise level was something to have witnessed!!!! WOW, it was quite daunting to be a spectator of the 'sport"!!! Sam & Cherie kept just laughing at the expression on my face, as clearly I was quite affected by the noise levels!!! anyway, Steve made a great BBQ, and he also roasted a delicious vegetable dish of green beans, mushrooms quarterd and onions chopped into wedges, coated with olive oil and roasted in the BBQ ~ really yummy!!!! And Ronda made a great salad as well. So, after dinner and copious amounts of red wine, we decided to play the "SCENE IT" board game!!! What fun!!! It was the gals against the guys, and you move around a board and get questions on movie clips on DVD, and have to answer questions about what the movie is called, who the actors are etc... really great fun!!! I won a move for the girls team with a clip from the movie "Must Love Dogs", where she goes to a restaurant on a blind date she has set up from an online dating website, only to find she has answered the ad of her father and is horrified!!! the question was who acts as her father in the movie, and I was the only one who knew the answer ~ It's Christopher Plumber for those of you who are trying to remember!!!!
Really great evening with true Americans!!!
