Sam & I ventured into the Old Town of Sacramento ~ a restored part of town that is very rustic, with raised wooden sidewalks, and 100's of candy stores, cobbled streets etc. We took a horse & carriage ride around the old town, which dropped us off at the California State Railroad Museum. www.californiastaterailroadmuseum.org This was a very interesting museum which houses more than 20 restored locomotives and railroad cars, as well as models of how they built the railroad across America. We then wandered the cobbled streets of the old town popping into the old fashioned stores. Along the Sacramento River there is an old steam boat which has been restored and is now a floating hotel that is docked at the Old Town port. We then popped into a photo gallary where we got dressed up in 1800's style clothing and had our "WANTED" poster photograph taken!!! A real classic, and great fun!!!
On the way back to Eldarado Hills, we stopped off at Folsom Prison. It is one of the nation's first maximum security prisons. It's first registered prisoner was on July 26th 1880. Infamous Charlie Manson was imprisoned at Folsom Prison in the 1970's for the grusome murder of Sharon Tate, famous Hollywood actress.
We then stopped in at the grocery store where we bought provisions for the chicken BBQ Sam was going to impress me with that night!! WOW!!! Fabulous grilled chicken pieces, Ceasar salad and BBQ'd asparagus was on the menu, and all delicious!!! and for afters, summer fruit cheescake!!! Delish!!!
