Dear blogreaders - a short update for you
We are still in Darjeeling, drinking tea and taking it easy. We have had to reschedule our travels slightly due to action in the next big town on the 7th of May (Free Gorkhaland) so there will be no transport or anything. Needless to say we will be staying clear of that and making our way down to Siliguri on the 8th and then flying to Madras (Chennai) on the 9th.
Hopefully we will only be staying one night there and then making our way down to Pondicherry for a few days (depending on the weather).
Its been raining quite a lot up here and it is particularly damp and cold. So much so that we have requested a heater for the hotel room tonight (just to take the smell of danp from the room).
Last night there were approx. 5 powercuts, which in itself isn't a problem, except that the telephone rang every time the power came back on, so we took the phone off the hook and had a good nights sleep.
Other news of the day: Finished the Telegraph quick crossword, drank lots of tea, and read our emails :-)
In the next couple of days we hope to go to a tea plantation and the botanical gardens as it would be a huge waste if we didn't do it while we were here. Alas the Toy Train is so fully booked for the next x number of weeks that we won't be able to take a ride on it, photographs will have to do. But aside from that we are enjoying our time here and have even found a tea shop that sells pie!
Oh and we had to buy an umbrella :-)
Until next time.....x x x x
