"Belated Christmas Greetings" ...to all our family, friends & blog readers ..!!..Too much X'mas goodies .. turkey, mince pies,Christmas pudding & cake etc. and not forgetting the mulled wine & odd whiskey...!!..Guilt got the better of us so we walked to Blackpool(9.5kms) & back along the snowcovered beach on Boxing day, only to start all over again with a mulled wine..!! ..Yum..!! ..Another pleasant walk along the beach is south from St. Annes to Lytham (approx. 15kms round trip)....It's amazing the energy a Lancashire meat & potato pie and Eccles cake give you for the return journey...!!... Maybe,we are just getting older or it's just not our cup of tea or perhaps & more importantly we are looking forward to our North African adventure starting on the 11th Jan...but in a way Songhi and I are glad it's all over ..!!...... I guess being snowed in & not being able to get around for the last 4 weeks has certainly had it's benefits ... it's given us the opportunity to spend Christmas with my family & the added bonus of it being a white one at that.....It's also given Song & I time together to organise & plan our forthcoming trips to Egypt,Morocco and especially the big one to India in February ..!!
We've decided to travel most the Indian trip by train.....It will take me back to my childhood memories of train travel, when Dad was posted to various stations as an Officer with the Indian Army & the family followed ..!! .. Though longer than flying (47hours Delhi to Kerala)we think it's going to give us a far better chance to see & experience the enjoyment of travel in India....What's made it even easier is that all our Indian traintravel is now bookable online & at very acceptable prices for us backpackers who are always on a budget.....We head south to Kerala from Delhi first & then back up through Goa,Bhopal,Amritsar and up to the Dalai Lama's hometown of Dharamshala ... we shall then travel on to Nainital & Ranikhet,to once again step back to my childhood & primary school days in the Kumaon Hills of the Almora District .. "Looking forward to the memories...!!"...... Obviously, the postponed Scottish trip is still on the itinary for when we arrive back from India,so we hope most of the winter snow would have thawed by then..!!...
Ah Well..!!...I guess it's time for another mulled wine & Mum and Song have put their orders in for a Stones ginger wine each.....looks like a good day tomorrow by the weather forcast so another long walk ahead to wash away the guilty conscience.
"See you all in 2011 .........!!!!!"
