Den on the loose
OZ Day Four
Today we drove up to Cape Tribulation (Cape Trib)which was North of Cairns and on the way up we stopped at Daintree and walked three of the boardwalks that were situated in the National Park. I had my first run in with one of Australia's spiders which was hanging above me while i was in the 'dunny' which was very scary as it was reddish orange with 2 fairly big spider nests next to it.
In order to get to Cape Tri we had to catch a ferry across the river which was cool as there as a sign saying that the river was croc infested which was a bit disconcerting. In the evening we stayed at P.K's Lodge which seemed alright from the front but as we soon discovered it wasn't because the place was absolutely covered in huge orb spiders bigger than my face.
The biggest orb spider in the area was camped right outside our room above us and stares right at you everytime you try to make your way to the door. Haivng walked to Cape Trib Beach we were a little disappointed with the landscape as the water was mucky and it was a very gloomy day nothing like the picture perfect postcards you find, but this was due to Cyclone Larry that had passed through.
For dinner we all had cajun chicken at the hostel and Tim and I had 2 jugs of beer each and we ended the night playing cards with another fellow 'pom' who was called Vicky that we met at the bar. Late in the evening while were in our rooms i had the pleasure of having a conversation with the Irsih Girls next to our room through the wall which was very entertaining.
