Arrived at 5 AM and our first brush with Indian organisation after joking the queue marked foreign passports was then sent to another queue mark eVisa. Then usual death defying taxi ride in the dark and dropped bags at hotel.
The change into shorts as already warm at 6 AM.
Walked into town and managed to work out that there isn't much happening in a business district at 6:30 AM on a Sunday.
Walked down to Calcom park and got caught up in Marathon which was a race for humanity event. Obviously with our physique we were regularly taken for competitors.
Found a good spot for observing lots of birds. Observed kingfishers, Hawks and lots more that Rob said but I failed to take note of.
Eventually walked out of the park and found a hotel to have breakfast in.
The braved our first put put to the market and had all our senses assailed. Worked out best way to cross the road is to spot a local and walk down traffic of him, of course if you leave any bigger than 12" gap three scooters and a bus will come between you and you are dead.
Now getting braver if somewhat hotter and tiered and went looking for the Tipu fort, failed but found the Tipu temple and laid down in the shade for 20mins before off looking for the Tipu fort. Found two bus stations and several cows but no fort. As world experts now haggled with a series of put put drivers, saved ourselves 20p and ride back to the hotel.
Went to check in but they where busy so had a special Kingfisher treated water. Then another at which point the hotel manager took pity came over took the passports and checked us in while we tucked into chicken tikka lumps.
Rooms very nice in My Fortune hotel and laid down for 1/2 an hour 2 hours later woke up.
Met the manager in the lift down and asked for any recommendations as our intention was to walk into town see some more sites a bar drink and diner. He recommend a little micro brewery 5 mins walk around the corner. This was an excellent choice as if you weren't a local I don't think you could ever have found it. The IPL match had just started so we thought it would be rude to leave quickly so we stayed and watched the first half while consuming some much needed treated water.
Out into the evening and more haggling over 10p and a put put across town to the Tripadvisor recommend K&K Resteraunt. Found it not open until 7:30 so two more Kingfisher treated waters while watching the conclusion of the IPL.
Excellent meal with of chicken somethings with a green hockey puck with nan and a Dahl.
Put put back to hotel and bed.
Well that's the first 24 hours.
