Principle is a wonderful thing in hiring a tuk-tuk,, but not always effective in my experience. When I was in India I found the best method was to prenegotiate a crazy high price which would be achieved by making me happy. Simple bribery should be considered as an alternative at any time, and it is an underrated skill. Tough negotiation in India does build character.

Is there nothing to see that doesn't involve transport, stations or food/drink? Think you need to pass the camera to Rob so we get some pictures of India...looks hot and sweaty, from the little we can see! Diacalm needed yet?

Lovely to see your photes and couple of videos! Its Sue, Rob's sister in law, and Joyce, mother in law. Relieved you have had some rain. Must the heat more bearable? Can't wait to hear about the train journey. Sounds like you went 1st class!

I note your wisdom in choosing a sensible vehicle like a TukTuk. The driver is in front of the passengers and will take the impact.
