We headed for Nagoya on the 21st to go see Shin and celebrate his wedding! We took one of the bullet trains to Nagoya which was pretty amazing. These trains go 150 to 250 mph and are the most clean and quiet trains I`ve ever been on. The ride down was quick, only two hours, and the scenery was beautiful. Since 75% of Japan is mountainous the views are spectacular. We arrived in Nagoya and Shin picked us up in his nice Landcruiser. I think Shin`s car is the biggest car in Japan but it was nice to finally have a ride somewhere as opposed to hopping on another subway train. We booked a single bedroom at a hotel in Nagoya (a single room like in Shubuya were we had to sneak one person in) however, Shin changed our reservation to a larger room since by coincidence his father had a friend that worked at the Hotel we were staying at. We got hooked up with the larger room for the same price as the smaller one we had booked thanks to Shin! That night Shins father, Seiji wanted to take us out to dinner so we met up around 6pm and went to Shins uncle`s sushi restaurant for dinner. The restaraunt was small but nice. We sat on the floor and ate a ton of sushi and drank a ton of beer and SoChu. His father was so nice, he didnt speak much english but he tried hard and with patience we could all understand each other and tell stories. After dinner we left the restaurant and proceeded to walk back home through the main part of Nagoya. As Shins father swayed back and forth (he was pretty drunk!) he proceeded to point out different things around Nagoya and then turn around and say "that in Chicago?" We finally made it back to the hotel around 11pm and Shin and his father went home to get ready for the wedding that was the next day. Apparently Shin`s mother was not happy with his father upon return considering he had been drinking for the last 4 hours and could barely make it home...!
