Well, today has been a bit of a non-starter so far, as I woke up at 7am (&%#$&^*) to be at an interview at 8.30 for an advertising firm, but when I got there they told me that the guy that was supposed to be dealing with me wasnt actually in today...which was helpful!! Especially after about 2 hours of sleep due to a restless night!!
At least the sun is shining today, which makes me feel a little better!!
Oh well, they asked me to come back tommorrow, so I suppose that is something! BUT, I have another job lined up at another PR place that I have been offered, and they want me to train tommorrow afternoon....argh!! I have somehow managed to arrange it so that I can go there in the morning and then head straight off to the training afterwards...so looks like a tommorrow will be a bust day!! I dont want to commit myself to one of them though, until I know what the deal is with the one that I went to today, as to be Frank..(Hi, Im Frank...) the one that I have been offered isnt exactly what I want to do- going from door to door signing people up for stuff. And you only get payed for what you actually sell, so you could realistically end up with nothing at the end of the day!! (not that I am unconfident in my ability to sell the thing, but being this close to Xmas, I somehow think that people will be feeling extra stingy and unwelcoming towards such people...)
I shall see what happens anyway! At least I have something if all else fails! And, you do get about 30 quid for each one person you sign up, so if you can manage to do 1 a day, then you should be ok......
As for everything else at the moment...the room is faring slightly better since Marie and I made the Landlady come around and change the mattresses in a bid to banish the uninvited bed inhabitants...which I am so happy about!! (although I still have skanky bites that are drying up on my arms, so short sleeves are a no-no, which is a bloody pain in the arse!!
Yesterday, Marie and I woke up quite late (about midday) as we were out at the infamous Scruffy Murphys Irish Pub in the city until 4am, but luckily it is only a ten minute walk home from the city, so it saves on transport costs!! We had a whale of a time in there, although the bloody band were rubbish and the blokes were all blurry eyed sleezes!!haha.
Anyway, after we got ready, we decided to make the most of the sunshine and take a walk to Darling Harbour, where there are nice things like resteraunts, boats and shops etc. And that isnt too far away either- about 15 minutes. I suppose although the room may not be the best that I could hope for, one of the plus points is that it is really in a convenient location!
Anyhow, we walked around, and sat for a while in front of the big screen and watched the Ashes, although I had absolutely no idea what was going on apart from something was bad when all the Enhlish guys swore, and good when they all said "yes!" or clapped.
With Marie being from Belgium, she knows even less about the whole Cricket thing than me, and asked me to explain...I was like "look, you are asking the wrong person, love!!!"lol.
Afterwards, we went into a shop where there was a free Digereedoo show (I dont know how to spell that!!) which was really good, and I found out through the commentary that the guy was doing that the name actually has nothing to do with Aboriginal culture, as it derives from the Gaelic words for "pipe player" (digeree) and "black" (doo), so it literally means "black pipe player" which is obviously what the Irish convicts saw when they arrived and met the Aboriginal people! All very interesting, eh??
Then, we went down to a place called Paddys Market, which is just what it says...a massive market where you can buy just about anything you want, and then went o a food court for our tea!
For some reason, even though we had hardly done anything, we were both shattered, and decided to do nothing last night to recouperate!!
And now, I have to do a few things that arent that interesting, like do some washing (oh, the thrill and joy...) then go and try and get a new ISIC card as mine is going to expire soon, which just will not do!!!
So, I will try and keep updating on a regular basis as well as I can!!!
ps- O MY GOD, I did not realise that it was that close to Crimbo!! Where did 2006 go??
(Well....apart from around South America and New Zealand....)hehe.
Take care everybody! XXX
