Ao Nang
From Kanchanaburi, we went to Bangkok airport and got a flight to Krabi. We stayed in Ao Nang, right near the beach, which is quite a touristy place but nice.
The next day we went kayaking about an hour away from the resort. We were in pairs going down a river and going through caves, which was beautiful but really hard work! After lunch we were taken to a different river that had a rope swing over it so you could swing in, which was fun.
That evening we went for dinner at a restaurant opposite the beach and as soon as we sat down, a thunderstorm started and it was raining really heavily. The streets flooded a bit and the thunder was so loud and the lightening lit up the whole sea. It was so cool!! After I'd eaten I went out onto the beach in the rain and watched the lightening, which was all over head in the clouds and there was so much of it, and a few times it came down into the sea. I loved it!
Ko Hong
Next day we got on a longtail boat and went to Ko Hong Island, where we camped for two nights. It was like being on the TV programme Shipwrecked, as at night we had the island to ourselves. It was so gorgeous with terquoise water and white sand like powder. There was some bits of boat wreck on the island from where they had the tsunami.
We pitched our tents and played football on the beach before dinner, and then another thunderstorm started! I had a walk along the beach and saw some fireflies, and watched the lightening again for a bit. The Thai tour guides made a fire on the beach after the storm had passed and we lay down for a bit before going to bed.
The next day we did more kayaking and went to other tiny islands with lagoons and did some snorkelling. In the afternoon we were took out onto a boat and watched the sunset and came back and had a BBQ for tea.
Koh Phangan
Wasn't totally sure of my plans for when the trip finished but knew I was staying in Ao Nang, while the rest of the group went back to Bangkok. However, some of the group decided to stay and travel over to Koh Phangan, which I would have done eventually, so I decided to go with them.
We stayed in Baan Tai on a really nice resort with little bungalow huts all on the beach. That night we arrived was the black moon party so we headed out and had tea and got some cheap awful alcohol, which got us all quite drunk before we got to the party:)
Next day most of the others left to go to Bangkok and I was left with Kevin who was staying an extra couple of days. Didn't do a lot because I was so hungover but relaxed on the beach in the afternoon, and it was so gorgeous and peaceful! The water was really calm and the sun setting was beautiful.
Went to Haad Rin the next day and stayed there for a night, which is where they have the full moon party. It was pretty quiet during the day but the beach gets pretty lively at night with fire shows and games, and the music is pretty good.
Koh Samui
Left the next day and got the ferry over to Koh Samui by myself and stayed in Chaweng. It's known for one of the best beaches in Samui and has some really nice hotel resorts and restaurants but it was so full of tourists, I didn't really like it much. I booked onto a boat trip round Anthong National Marine Park the next day, which went round lots of beautiful islands and went to viewpoints and did some snorkelling.
Next day I went round a couple of places in the north of samui with Kim who I met on a boat trip the day before. He'd hired a motorbike so was really good to get around, as the taxi's are really expensive on the islands. I wanted to see Bo Phut, as I was thinking of staying there, and went to the fishermans village and liked it instantly! I booked in to a guesthouse, where for the first time on my whole trip, got a room to myself! Was so nice!
Saw the Big Buddah and went back to Chaweng to get my bags and managed to ride on the back of the bike with my massive rucksack, back to Bo Phut! In the evening we went back to Chaweng again, where I met up with Louise off my Cambodia, Vietnam tour.
Headed to the beach the next day and got a Thai massage right on the beach, which was so good!! Walked around a bit and went to a market at the Bo Phut temple.
Thought I'd see what Lamai was like as most travellers seem to stay there, so got a motorbike taxi and stayed there for one night before I left Samui. Was a nice beach and I walked to the Grandfather rocks at the end of the beach.
Back to Koh Phangan
Decided to get the ferry back over to Koh Phangan for the half moon party and met some people on the way over and we all stayed in the same resort in Baan Tai. I love that place so much and stayed in some nice bungalow huts on the beach again.
We all went to the party together, which was in the jungle, and had a really good night and didn't really drink this time, as I booked to go to back to Krabi the next day.
Back to Ao Nang
Got a ferry and then a bus back to Krabi and then a mini bus back to Ao Nang, but the driver didn't speak English and didn't understand where I was wanting to stay, so got dropped in the centre and was wondering round trying to find a cheap place to stay. The place I ended up in was not nice and I got woken up at 5am by foreign guys talking loud right outside my room.
The next day I went to Railay beach to do some rock climbing, which was great! It was hard work and one of the climbs was 27m but the view at the top was amazing. I checked into a different guesthouse when I got back which was loads better and then went down to the beach and saw the most amazing sunset!
I did a cooking class the next morning, which ended up being one to one, as no-one else had booked that day. Learnt spring rolls, green curry, pad thai and tom yum. As soon as I got back I got a taxi to Krabi pier and got a ferry to Phi Phi island.
Koh Phi Phi
I was expecting Phi Phi to be chilled out and like Koh Phangan but it wasn't, it was full of travellers and crammed with shops and restaurants. You could walk all around the main island because it's really small and I saw a few people I'd met on other islands and kept bumping into the same people.
Did a boat trip the next day with loads of snorkelling, which was the best I'd done so far, it was so clear and there were loads of fish. Went round lots of little islands and finished in Maya Bay, where they filmed The Beach. That evening I ate with some people I'd met on the boat trip and went out on the beach in the evening.
Next day, I walked up to the veiw point, which looks over Phi Phi and then went to the Tsunami Memorial Park, as Phi Phi was the most affected by the Tsunami. I got the ferry back over to Krabi and then stayed in Ao Nang again for my last night in Thailand.
I left on a bus all the way to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia the next day. Took about 16 hours but only cost about 17 pounds. I absolutely love Thailand and did not want to leave!! My 30 days on my visa had run out, so that's why I left when I did, otherwise I would have stayed longer. I am definitely coming back again and had the most amazing time!!
