Vietnam was amazing! I pretty much loved all of it. Most of it was so warm and sunny but it's also really green everywhere with the rice fields, mountains and trees.
Still with the tour we started in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). They were celebrating Chinese New Year so was very busy but I actually quite like the city. There are so many motorbikes though and you just have to step out into the traffic and hope for the best.
We went to the Cu-Chi Tunnels where there's a forest with tiny tunnels dug all over the place, which they used during the war with America. I went inside one and you can only really crawl, it's quite claustrophobic. It was really interesting though and after we visited the War Remnants Museum, which was a bit of an eye opener. The museum had quite graphic images of the damage done and the prisoners, which the American's held and torchured. I didn't even realise that at the end of the war, the American's used a chemical called Agent Orange in Vietnam and it's really toxic so affected the land, water and caused serious damage to the people and new born children were de-formed because of it.
We went to Nha Trang, which is a beach resort amd I was glad just to relax and sunbathe while we were there. We went to Mineral Mud Springs, which was really fun.
Next stop was Hoi An, which is famous for the tailoring. I didn't get anything made, as it wasn't that cheap but there were so many gorgeous dresses. We also went on bikes through the rice fields in the countryside.
In Hue, I did a motorbike tour, which was really fun. We all got on the back of a motorbike and just held on, was quite bumpy sometimes, because again we went through rice fields but also saw how they harvest the rice and also saw how they make the pointy sun hats they wear.
Got a few overnight trains on this trip, which were much better than in China but one broke down for a few hours so one of the journeys took about 17 hours. We went to Halong Bay, which is supposed to be one of the most beautiful places in Vietnam, and it was amazing, but cold and cloudy so we didn't get to see it at it's best. Was similar to Yang Shou in China but probably better. We went on a boat tour and stopped off at the Heavenly Palace cave, which was cool.
Our last stop was Hanoi which was crazy!! There's just constant swarms of traffic all the time and it's just so busy. I went to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, where Ho Chi Minh's body is in a glass box and you walk through to see it and there's lots of guards. Well they say it's his body but it looked a bit waxy.
My tour ended in Hanoi and it was so sad to say bye to everyone. I made some really good friends. The tour was actually carrying on to Laos and 6 of us weren't going that far but we all were flying out on the same day so we booked a hostel and stayed together and went to the cinema, which was really nice to relax.
Vietnam has been my favourite place so far!
