Bonjour!
Today, we woke up at 5:30am to check out of our dorm rooms and make it to the metro by 6am so we could get to Paris and check in to our hotel, eat breakfast, and make it to the Bastille Day parade in time! It was quite an early start! Our hotel is one street away from the Champs-Elysees which is so cool!! Staying in Paris is definitely much easier than staying in Evry when you want to spend an entire day experiencing Paris. We ate breakfast in a cute little café and had our omelettes and French coffee. So delicious! Then we headed to the parade on the Champs-Elysees. There were army tanks, and huge trucks and army men and generals and the navy all over the place! It was really cool to get to see up close and take pictures with all of the armymen. I found it very different from an American holiday, though, because there was not any music during the parade, people did not clap, and nobody was dressed up in the French colors. It was silent which was definitely not what I was expecting being used to Fourth of July in America. It was a cool experience though. The rest of the day, we walked around Paris all day just shopping and having an awesome time before making it to the Eiffel Tower at night to watch the fireworks. It was the most incredible fireworks show I have ever seen! It was 70s theme and the majority of the music to the fireworks was actually American music which I liked. It was so fun and so incredible to watch!
The saddest part of the day was saying goodbye to Amber when the fireworks were over. Nicholette, Erin, and I walked to the hotel but Amber had to head back to Evry with the rest of the group. Hopefully I will be able to go to Barbados soon to visit Amber!!
We finally made it back to the hotel which is where I am writing this blog right now. J
Tomorrow is when I head back to America, the shuttle picks me and Erin up at 5:45am. L
I miss France and my new friends already!
Au Revoir,
Tori
