Well this is a long one! We have done so much in the last two days that it's a bit crazy and my feet hurt. But I will do my best to keep it short and sweet.
Yesterday we decided that the cheapest and easiest way to discover Singapore would be the tour bus option. Yes it's just like the big red buses in London. We could hop on and hop off where ever there was a stop. We didn't actually we stayed on and did the whole route and managed to see everything. Then we did another bus and saw some different sights. As soon as I get somewhere with free wifi I will put on the pictures I can. During a break from the bus we decided to go on the Singapore flyer, a big wheel the same as the London eye. This was an unexpected pleasure as we got to see all the important areas of the city from a pod we managed to get just to ourselves after walking very fast past some really annoying tourists who had to have a photo of everything! (We have taken a lot of photos though!). Once we were settled in our pod and it started to rise I started looking around and suddenly realised we were right next to the start/finish line for the Singapore grand prix track! This was amazing and the higher we got the more I could see!!
In the evening we met up with two familiar faces from Brunei. Mark and Rachel! It was great to see them outside our 'natural' habitat; we had a lovely meal and a couple of very expensive drinks before going our separate ways. A nice unexpected event!
On to today! This morning started off with breakfast with the orangutans at Singapore zoo. Most of the animals were free ranging or not much between us and them so we could get up close and personal with all sorts of animals from snakes to elephants! The orangutans were lovely and there were a few little babies hiding with mum, or swinging above! After the zoo we used our hippo bus tour tickets again and traveled to Sentosa island, where we boarded the Singapore cable car high above the port for more lovely views.....however the rain that hit while we were at the zoo followed us to the cable cars so we got a bit wet at the top stop off. When we arrived back down on the island we took to exploring, part of the island is home to universal studios. We didn't go in as it was getting a bit late so not enough time for it but we explored the shops and had dinner in Hard Rock Cafe! There was a gigantic Hersey's chocolate shop- sorry trace I couldn't remember what your favorite was so I didn't get you any, but I really looked around to remember it!!!
Once returning to the bus and back in the city we took a stroll towards Raffles Hotel, however got sidetracked by men in uniform as we seem to always do and ended up in a Conference hall full of fire, ambulance and police all showing off their latest gadgets and basically showing Singapore that they can work together (Hometeam.sg). Not 100% sure we were meant to be there but it was interesting anyway and no one asked us to leave! Space aged, 3 wheeled police patrol and hands free CPR machines!
Last stop of the evening was finally the famous Raffles hotel for an original Singapore sling, which I think if I had a house I would have had to take a second mortgage out! I can safely say that although I have enjoyed Singapore it has not been cheap and we haven't even done any shopping!
Oh well off to our second stop tomorrow a new adventure will begin in Kuala Lumpur!
