Left this morning for Cinque Terre (La Spezia) via Lucca and Pisa first. Old Lucca is surrounded by a wall and has over 20 churches. We first went to Basilica di San Frediano where there is the body of St. Zita (patron saint of servants) mummified in a glass case. There is also an arena in Lucca which has now been built over by buildings but is still shaped ina circle and the arches from the arena are still at the ground level of these new buildings.
Lucca hosts alot of summer music concerts and this summer there were Erikah Badu and Alicia Keys etc. After the walking tour, we went for lunch at a pizzeria and after that me, Jess and Katie went for a bike ride on the city walls. (Cheryll went to climb a bell tower).
After that we went to Pisa which was very cool. We took some stupid photos holding up the leaning tower and also got shooed off the grass by the police with their piercingly loud whistles. There is another building there that is slightly leaning as well. Apparnetly they made the main tower lean more on purpose for tourism purposes (not sure if that is true?)
After that, we went towrads La Spezia and went to dinner at a restaurant which server doughy food/bread etc, and the food came out so slow everyone was getting pissed,. It was Stefanos birthday and they lit a candle on top of his pannacotta dessert. We sang happy birthday and he then played the piano and singed for us! (Finally).
After that we went back to hotel, tomorrow we get to go to Cinque Terre! but breakfast is at 7:15 :(
