Went on a bike tour this morning around Budapest. We started at the Opera House with our guide Ivan (Hungarian who studies in the US) and then headed towards City Park. We got separated a few times which is fairly understandable when you have about 25 people on bikes riding in a pack around town, but Renee (the token dad of the group) managed to pick up the tail of the group and get us all back together. We crossed the Margaret Bridge to the Buda side of the city and then back again on a different bridge (forgot the name).
After the bike tour, me, Bec, Liz and Anna went to a vegetarian restaurant called Hummus Bar (highly recommended) to get some lunch before heading back to the hostel to grab our stuff for the Szechenyi Baths in City Park. It was so relaxing and nice to have a break to chill out after 1.5 months of travelling. We all went to the hot baths, colt baths (20 degrees.. freezing!) where me and Mark managed to stay in for 4 or 5 minutes towards the 5th attempt in the cold bath. The place also has steam and sauna and the outdoor pool were so big and really looked beautiful with the building surrounding it. There was also a whirlpool which was quite fun.
For dinner me and Bec ended up going back to the hummus bar again haha. it was good light food especially after being in a bath we didnt really feel like big meaty meal.
After dinner all of us went the pub crawl with the same guide that did our biking tour earlier in the day. The first bar had free beer for the 1st hour and also gave us a free shot of something pretty foul. I hate beer so didnt really get much out of the first place. The 2nd place was a roof top bar (very cool place) where they were showing the Eurocup. 3rd place was an underground bar where we ended staying for most of the night, mainly because it started pissing down with rain while we were there so we couldn't really go elsewhere. A few of us ended up going back to the rooftop bar (but the downstairs part) but it was so stuffy in there I felt like I was back in the sauna at the baths. On the way there it was still raining so me and Bec found some cardboard on the side of the road and made it our little shelter while walking. We actually kept it on the back of Ivans bike while we in the bar just in case it was still raining haha.
Most of us got home around 3ish and I ended up doing another load of laundry (god knows why I couldnt sleep). Even woke up at 5:30 am to put it in the dryer. Nuts.
