Didnt really do much today. Walked around the town and had some more fries again. This time it was fries with meat sauce which is apparently the traditional one... sounds and looks a bit gross but actually tasted pretty good.
Went to see Michelangelos Madonna and Child sculpture which was in a church, then went to see a cannon from the war that someone decided to put upside down into the side of a pavement. Then walked to the gate (Brugge is sourrounded by a few gates) where there is a fake skull hanging off it. There used to be a real skull of a guy who opened the gate to let the enemy in and was therefore killed.
Went back to the hostel afterwards and took a little nap then did the laundry... how exciting.
Not sure if I have mentioned it, people smoke alot here I feel like I am going to suffocate. Then today I saw someone bring their pet rat into the hostel bar downstairs and it sat on the table where people eat. Cute, but a little gross even if its a pet and not feral. They also take their dogs everywhere and they are usually allowed in the restaurants with the owners.
In Bruges they also have horses with a carriage at the back that you can sit in, and they take you for a ride around the square. Bruges is also well known for their lace (they make alot of it and the souvenier shops sell them). Tin Tin was also invented here (there is a Tin Tin shop) as well as the Smurfs.
Tomorrow I am off to Amsterdam for 5 days. Should be fun!
Till then,
Vicky
