Well again its been a while since my last blog but so much has happened, last time I wrote I was leaving Brisbane so here goes…
Last night in Brisbane was another crazy one, surprise surprise… J so I told the girls (Vicky and Lyzette) I didn't want a late one as I had to be up early.. we decided on "a couple" of drinks so put my heels on and headed to the bar at the Brisbane city backpackers, had a few glasses of wine.. then Vicky and Lyzette said we were heading out, so we headed to Victory (the place we couldn't get into the other night because it was too busy) Sunday night are special $3 drinks all night.. so we had a few (Vicky only had one, she was broke by this point) then she pulled some American dudes that were studying locally, she got more drinks. We danced some and then swiftly left after Vicky's dude had bought her a few drinks and was after more.. so we went to Down Under Bar and had more drinks and danced some more.. We met these Irish guys, seemed like nice blokes. We stayed outside as usual and started our semi circle in the middle of the pavement and Lyzette and Irish guys decided we should head to the casino! So we went to the casino after a walk and some food along the way, hungry jacks and Mackers it was lol when we got to the casino Lyzette made for the tables and started chatting up this 60 year old Aussie lol he bought us drinks all night.. so we went outside to go for a smoke and was refused entry back into casino.. we noticed the sun was up.. it was 6am..!! Irish guys walked us home then we went to bed for a few hours. I had to check out at 10 but decided to head back to bed with Vicky. Woke up at 11:10am, my bus to Byron Bay was departing at 11:30am. RUNNNNNN!! Vicky walked me to the station, Lyzette stayed in bed lazy moo lol anyways got on bus was very very hangover after 3-4 days on the razz..next stop Byron bay..
Byron Bay - Was told by Alca the dutchie to book into Aquarius in Byron Bay, I arrived bus was there to take us to hostel. Another nice Dutchie driving the shuttle bus, I love the dutch! Fun people! So Byron Bay looks pretty cool, plenty of things to do. I arrived on 13th Feb. Me and Aoife had planned to go to Nimbin on 14th Feb. First thing I noticed in the hostel that night was there were a lot of people that already knew each other very well, discovered that many of them had been in Byron Bay for weeks without being able to leave. I found it very clicky in the hostel, was hard to make friends which made it a lonely place for me, shame because I think this spoilt my visit to Byron. But I made the most of it. Aoife and I went to Nimbinon 14th Feb, I greeted her with a huge kiss since its been a few weeks (maybe more since I see my Irish buddy) plus it was V day! Had a great time in Nimbin stopped at a waterfall along the way. Bus was quite on the way there lol Got there and was such a strange little place, everyone hanging around on the streets and selling drugs. We visited the Nimbin Musuem which was so quaint. Then we stopped by the Bowls centre to get out free BBQ (Sausage sandwich) and we had a beer in the bar there, took some pics then got back onto bus. Bus ride home was hilarious, everyone is buzzing or off there faces on cookies or mushrooms. Aoife and I were laughing just because of there laughter. Back in Byron Bay Aoife stayed at Aquarius for the night, so we decided Karoke was allowed since we wouldn't see each other for a while (maybe 5 days lol) I sang near enough first "its raining men" was fun but oh my I was nervous and couldn't get in time with the song, Embarrassing! YES it was! Then the competition started and I choose stupidly to sing a hard song "time after time" again still nervous and couldn't harmonise so sounded really bad but the crowd joined in andhelped me along.. Aoife then sang (she stole my song) "Don't Speak", she rocked it and was called up as the final 3 to re-sing… she came runner up and guess what she won $50 bar tab, we had like 30 mins to drink that so good ole tequila got involved and doubles.. fun fun.. we met this local Aussie guy called Nile, he was chatting to us all the way to the woodshed and then he vanished, next time we see him he was madly passionately undressing, kissing and fondling with some girl at the back of the dancefloor. Funny night, on the way home me and Aoife shared a kebab, maybe the best in a while. Said my farewells to Aoife that night, big kiss and cuddle. See you in Sydney love!
So first thing I really wanted to do was a surf lesson in Byron Bay so booked onto that for the following day, today was a chill day. Went to the beach and chilled out at the bar before taking a few beers to the beach to experience the most romantic scene I have seen since NYE in Scotland. Picture this, Lighthouse lighting up the sky. Bright stars, Cold beers, the noise of the waves and a busker playing guitar and harmonica. Then to top it off.. a couple walking hand in hand along the beach front… was so nice… so headed home to the loud lively hostel and tried to get a early night ready for surf lesson tomorrow.
Woke up around 10am, went and booked my lesson with Kool Katz. Got the bus at 1pm, met 2 girls in the bar last night called Katrina (Devon) and Lauren (Canada). They wanted to come to the Surf lesson too so booked along with me. We all headed to Needle head (something like that, will have to look it up) we had a good morning.. I even managed to master the surf skill and got up and rode 4 and half waves… lol good day.. then we headed back to hostel and chilled out for the afternoon. The guys were leaving in the morning… boo so another early night… Lauren and I played the quiz then headed to bed.
Next day was all alone, so I revisited my fav café again since arriving in Australia.. Why not? Byron Bay… spent a few hours eating and playing on the internet and did some shopping.. Bought a dress for Jacq and Gaz's wedding so went to the post office to post it home. Another chilled night in at the bar.
Last day in Byron and I decided to get the bus to Sydney overnight..so I woke early to go Sea Kayaking. Sea Kayaking was cool although was disappointed we didn't see any dolphins as promised. But was good fun anyways. Then after I decided to walk to the Lighthouse, was steep and hot but my thoughts of Snowdonia soon came rushing back and my support crew at home kept me going until the top. Later I discovered that I managed to get the best sun burn ever.. The guy at Kayaking said to put some cream on your shins.. I used my stick 50 factor, I quickly wiped it over my shins in a v shape and forgot to rub it in (was excited about kayaking) anyways later discovered a white V shape in my leg from sunburn lol… funny but it did burn a little.. headed back to hostel as bus was leaving at 9.05pm so needed to shower and get my bags packed.
Arrived at bus stop to bump into Lisa (German from Noosa) along with a guy from Ipswich (whose name I never got) but Shaun was missing… apparently he was meeting a girl on the beach and wasn't sure if he wanted to leave. The bus left without him..
Long trip to Sydney 12 hours by bus… We stopped a few times, I rang home! Was nice to speak with my boyfriend at a reasonable hour for him (especially not being drunk lol)
Arrived in Sydney, little tired but ok. Decided to head to Base hostel, after Katrina mentioned she was staying here from Byron. Walked all the way was so far. Anyways Sydney looked nice so far.. checked in and made some cool friends on the first day/night. Met with Katrina and Lisa Day from work at Harley then headed straight to Manly to try and catch the end of the surf competition. Got to Manly god the ferries were so busy! But we made it, was packed at the beach. Surf competition ended on Saturday but a skateboard competition was on instead, was so cool. Headed back to hostel and I met this guy in my room before heading out to Manly called Tom Policeman from London. We headed to some comedy gig at the Fringe bar in Paddington. However bar was closed for refurbishment. So we went to Stonewall for a few drinks then headed back towards hostel, we found the 3 wise monkeys along the way and enjoyed more drinks then Katrina came to meet us. Tom like Katrina lol we got massively drunk and I was silly and fell over and got evicted from the pub, Katrina came after me and was also evicted lol Mcdonalds incident, ask me another time. Lol Woke with a sore head and bruised leg which restricted my walking a little. Guess who was arriving in Sydney today? Lyzette and Vicky!! Anyways a few of us decided to join the free Harbour walk organised bv Base hostel (free goon and sandwich lunch), was fun made so many new friends including Doctor Johnny O Mahony from Ireland, his been working in Brisbane as a trainee surgeon. Katie Bradley from Epwell near Banbury living in my room too! She had just arrived from England and was home sick poor thing.. We also met Toms brother Barney. Plus a guy from Germany called Dennis. Was good fun, we walked the wrong way over the bridge and had to walk all the way back (with a bad leg) then we sat over the other side of bridge and had some goon, which I declared as mine lol took some cool pics by the opera house etc.. then me Tom, Barney, Katie and Katrina headed to the rocks for a few mid-afternoon beers at some irish bar. Was good afternoon, we all got the know each other. Back to hostel to get changed and headed out to have some food at Scary Canary with Katrina. $5 fish and chips.. anyways then we met with Tom, Barney and Katie and headed out to Scruffys Irish bar, Tom was meeting some friends as he was heading to a friends wedding over at Hunter Valley. Cheap drinks again! Had a few… Got past bed time and shot off home. Barney disappeared with Katie and Katrina disappeared with Tom. I headed to bed.
Wednesday was a recovery day, supposed to go visit Blue Mountains but didn't manage to get up early enough. Met with Aoife again and Lyzette and Vicky briefly. Then Aoife and I went on the hop on hop off bus around the city. See lots of statues of queen Victoria, the biggest fish market of the southern hemisphere (it was closed when we arrived) Opera house up close.. then we headed to china town for dinner.. we had a nice meal and then walked along to Scruffys again.. another fun drunken night.. made some new friends.. watched drag Karoke.. big boobs lol woke up with another hangover again.
Thursday we had another free trip planned to Coogee Beach, got there had some lunch and had to head back.. A exciting night planned at the Opera House. Katrina, Aoife and myself went for a thai before heading to the opera house to watch The Magic Flute! Romantic story. We had a pre opera wine and enjoyed a nice glass during the interval.. The evening was amazing.. The opera was so good and we all enjoyed the show. I even shed a tear! Then afterwards we decided a traditional Aussie night for Aoife last night in Oz and my last night in Sydney. Pie Face followed by TimTams and a Schooner of beer from the oldest pub in Sydney! Was so good, we were all shattered after fun packed night at the Opera. We briefly visited the headphones made from milk cartons.. then headed back.. After a emotional farewell to 3 of my bestest friends today.. I was a little sad.. standing on the platform waving bye to Aoife was sad, I wont see her now until possibly May! When I will take her to a traditional East End pie and Mash shop! Lol
Leaving for Perth today to visit Eleanor (Will's sister) quite excited and nervous but I am sure we will have lots of fun.. roll on 2pm, I really am bored of flights now!
Hope that's enough for you all for now!
