'Verity's Travels'
Hey all!
Hello from Carins, Gilligans to be exact (thanks Kat, Jo and Helen for recommending this place, it's easily the best place i've stayed in, thanks guys you did good!)
Just updating you on what I've been up to over the past week. Last week I went on a three day sailing tour of the Whitsundays (Great Barrier Reef). We stayed on the boat and snorkelled. Saw the most amazing fish, one of them was about half the size of me and that's not me going over the top this time! They were all colours of the rainbow and seeing them so close up is something I'll never forget.
There were 23 on our boat, the majority were American and Canadian so I was in my element talking to them. It was just like being back in Boston again, well with the whole 'oh my god your English... do you like know the royal family' questions and the res,t but they were all so nice and we all had so much fun. Sleeping on the boat was an experience and I really enjoyed it. We only got off the boat to snorkel and visit this really beautiful beach called Whitehaven, it was like paradise!
Last weekend was spent in Magnetic Island, it's a small island but has beautiful unspolit beaches. Bryony and I went for a very long walk, luckily enough a family saw us and let us jump in the back of their truck and ride up and down the many hills, we were tired and it was very hot!
We headed to Carins on Monday evening and have just arrived back from a three day tour of Cape Tribulation and Daintree National Park. The first day was spent on a crocadile tour, we saw five of them in the wild and got really close to them. Then we went for a guided tour of the rainforest, it's one of the largest areas of rainforest in the Southern Hemisphere. Even the drive there was spectuacular, north Queensland is SO pretty, what with the lush green moutains boardering the crystal clear coast.
We stayed two nights, literally in the rainforest and the hostel bar led onto an unspolit beach where we found a coconut, which we eat!
Bryony and I fly out of Cairns on Sunday. Kat, you fly out of Sydney on Sun don't you? I change flights there so I think we might there the same time! I've got my moblie with me if you are.
Well, I had better go as we're off our tonight, meeting up with someone who we were on the Whitsundays tour with and possibly someone who was in our dorm room in the Daintree National Park rainforest too!
Hope you are all well and please contiune to keep me posted on what you are all up to.
Take care,
Verity x
