This weekend saw us visit Paris on the annual office trip.
Friday
It was an early start with our flight leaving at 6:00am. On arrival to Paris, we took a cab straight to the hotel to try and squeeze in a quick nap before the lunch at 13:30. We had lunch at a traditional restaurant in Montmarte called La Bonne Franquette. The meal was very nice. Afterwards, we went and had a quick look at the Sacre Coeur Basilica which was rather impressive. After a second nap and freshening up, we made our way to dinner via a quick stop by the Eiffel Tower. Dinner was on a boat which cruised up and down the River Seine. This was probably our fave meal of the trip - an entre of scallops followed by a main of beef & aligot. After the boat cruise came to an end, we took a cab to the Bastille area where we found a bar to have some drinks. It was a bit tacky with some extreme halloween themes and also they kept lighting the bar on fire which was a little random. Rather a few jager bombs were had and we learnt that getting a taxi at 3am is quite the challenge in Paris!
Saturday
It took a while to start the day it is fair to say. We grabbed a croissant then took the metro to Rue de Rivoli for a little shop browsing. Matty found a nice cafe to sit at with a coffee and beer while Van perused a few shops before deciding it was time for some chillaxing. We headed to Champs Elysees and found a bistro which met Matt's requirement of 'must serve duck'. After a quick look at the stores we had a coffee and some macarons at Laduree. The rosewater macarons were an experience! Saturday's dinner was again, very nice, at another traditional French restaurant. However, unfortunately, the most noticeable thing about the dinner experience was the heat of the restaurant where most of us had to step outside for some cool air from time to time.
Sunday
We had just enough time to grab some breakfast at the hotel and for Van to hit the shops on Champs Elysees while Matt went frog leg hunting. While Van was shopping Matt failed in his forg leg hunt, but did manage to cash in on free entry to walk up the Arc De Triomphe (free stuff on the first Sunday of every month) and 'unfortunately' got stuck with 1 litre of beer. The rest of the day was travelling and due to some delays we nearly had to stay in Copenhagen for the night. Thankfully the airline realised that 60 of us had a connecting flight which would have been an expensive night for SAS. What a great weekend. See you soon Paris!
