Unfortunately we both let our guard down on the Air India flight and allowed ourselves to have the fruit and salad on the flight. Oh boy was that a big mistake! Matty started vomiting in Heathrow airport bathrooms and had an embarrassing episode on the plane (luckily there were waste bags at the ready!) and Van was hit with it hard the next day. This took about 2 days for Van to get over and around 3 days for Matt, but he still had a lingering bubbly tummy for a few days after that. This unfortunately put some serious restraints on our Prague activities (especially eating and drinking), so hopefully we can make up for it at the other places we visit in the Czech Republic!
First day was primarily spent sorting out the Canada visas (and sorted them for once and for all, hopefully), which required three separate trips (forgot passports first time and then needed Van the second time). However we did manage to visit the Charles Bridge and the Prague Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Square. Dinner was a shared pizza at a place near our apartment.
Next day we were feeling slightly better and we started with visiting a museum. The plan was to visit the Prague National Museum to get a feel for the Czech Republic history, but that's been closed for 4 years (due to open in 2016 or 2018), so we settled for a exhibitions on Death and Deathly Pleasures (i.e drugs, alcohol). Was a bit weird but still interesting. Then Matt found a 550 year old brewery that he just had to have a beer at. Conveniently on the way was the main shopping street so after 5 shops, Van managed to find a handbag that wasn't too big or too small and had compartments for things. After a delicious lunch at U Medvidku where Matt got to have the strongest beer in the world, we were off to check out the local castle on the hill which was very impressive, but quite a hike up to after 4 months of no exercise! With Matt still feeling poorly, that was enough fun for one day so we headed home. Dinner was across the road at the local pub and restaurant where we were a little out of place by ordering soft drinks and salads (which we were unable to finish!).
