We picked up our white Volvo rental car from Prague central station at 11am, then it was on the road to Cesky Krumlov - about a 2 hour drive southwest from Prague. After a few days on edge from the Air India food poisoning, we were both craving some McDonalds. Several signs tricked us along the way so we didn't end up finding a McDonalds until we were just 25 minutes from Cesky Krumlov. We both had the best McDs cheeseburgers ever (purely because we were keen on some standard tried and true food) and then got back on the road.
We found our accommodation in Cesky Krumlov, which was a cute wee B&B just a 600 metre walk from the centre.
The afternoon was spent exploring the streets and walking up to the castle and roaming the grounds there. We then found a nice posy to sit on the grass in the sun and read our books for a little while. We had dinner at a nice restaurant on the bank of the river running through the town - this was the first proper meal Matt had had since getting sick - however we did share the ribs (healthy Matt would never share such a dish!) and were still only on 0.3L beers.
We roamed around the town some more at dusk and then called it a night. Cesky Krumlov is one of the prettiest little towns we've been to - Van considers it to be like a fairytale town. It reminded us a little of Montepulciano but was also of course very different from there.
