We arrived in Plzen in the afternoon after a lovely drive through the Czech Republic countryside. We dropped off our bags at the craft brewery (with 20 different types of beer) that Van had organised accommodation at and we raced off for a tour of Pilsner Urquell (Czech Republics most famous Pilsner). The tour was great and included a tour of the packages facility, movies about the history and how the beer is made, a tour of their caves and of course some taste testing. Much better than the Amsterdam Heineken experience! We headed back to our accommodation to have dinner at the hotel where we got to sample 6 of the beers. One of them was a wasabi beer which was green and made Matt's tongue numb. The rest were very good though and dinner was tastey and meaty. We finished the day off with a Pilsner in a bath of Pilsner in Plzen which was a lot of fun and surprisingly relaxing.
The next day we stopped off at the town square which had some festival going on with a mechanical dragon, had a coffee and then headed off to our next destination when it started raining.
