We're off to the USA! "Again" I hear you say.
We had no intention of travelling overseas this year, that is until our good friend Shayne Webley announced that he was getting married. So why the overseas trip? He is getting married in San Francisco to a beautiful American lady called Elizabeth. Now, we don't need much encouragement to travel and to be honest we could not find a better reason than to attend Shayne and Elizabeth's nuptuals on 16th September.
So, airfares booked, first night's accommodation booked, car hire booked and accommodation booked in San Francisco, we set off on another adventure.
After a relaxing night in Brisbane on Monday night we took the hotel shuttle to the airport for our morning departure on Tuesday. While sitting having breakfast at the terminal Coffee Club, Greg received a facebook message from Terry and Shirley who are also attending the wedding, they were waiting for their flight at Gate 86 so we wandered up to see them as we had time to kill. Arrangements have been made to meet up before the wedding for a few refreshments!
Our flight left Brisbane at 11am and we arrived in Los Angeles at 7am - on the same day - try explaining that to primary school students! After picking up our blue Toyota Yaris - our transport for the next month, we headed north up Highway 101. We were planning a visit to The Rock Store, a motorbike hang out, but discovered it only opens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Instead we enjoyed the view of the Pacific and stopped for lunch at another biker favourite - Neptune's Nest. Not many bikes there today but the fish and chips made a tasty snack.
We took turns driving as we were both pretty tired after being awake for most of the 27 hours since we left our Brisbane motel. Kerrie even had a little nap on a bench in a Rest Stop.
Our stop for the night is in San Luis Obispo on Highway 101, about a third of the way to San Francisco, as we don't need to be there until Thursday we thought we would take our time and enjoy the scenery.

Christopher A lovely way to travel to San Francisco, I did it in June this year and was stopped by landslides. You will also have to divert at least once as a bridge is out until next year at the earliest.' Take the Yaris down Lombard St, its a fun drive.
Craig and Marg Having Nanna naps already and you just started. Might end up like the Griswalds with you both napping while the car drives itself. Hope it knows where to go.
