We spend a lazy morning chatting over breakfast before, Niki, Ami Hai and I start hitching south to Vientiane. We have to walk out of the town, which at mid-day peak with all our packs is a sweaty challenge but one that we rise too. We don't have to wait long before a cool-cat Lao guy dressed in cowboy gear pulls over to give us a lift. He owns a guest house in Laung Prabang and has just dropped off some of his guests in Vang Vieng, luckily he decides to help us out too. We start in the back of the air conditioned truck. Half way in Niki asks if we can sit in the back - this girl is full of good ideas and always finds a way to make things more exciting! Of course I follow suit. In the open top with the wind in my hair, I realise that this little act would not happen and would actually be illegal in the UK. A renewed sense of freedom comes over me, I love life, travelling and am excited to find out what's coming next!
