KOLKATA, INDIA. MONDAY MAY 3 2010, 1030 HRS.
The temperature here is merciless, but so am I. My guesthouse room is extremely small and hot, there is no fresh air, no air conditioning, so it really feels like I'm doing exercise 24/7... and since I'm soon losing my sanity anyway because of the heat, why not go all the way and take it to the next level? So I'm now, after almost six months of inactivity, getting back to my exercise routines, haa! Due to the surroundings I'll start with a very simplified version of it. Mainly just push-ups, crunches, forearms etc... and walking a lot here is comparable to jogging in the North; just resting on the bed of my small room feels like I'm doing a slight cardio warm-up. Every morning I wake up in a pool of sweat, the bed sheets and the whole room smells terrible.
Otherwise, India is still a complete mystery for me. I just cannot get a grasp of how things work here, it's such a completely different world out here. It's difficult to explain, you have to be here in order to see what it's like. Now I can understand why India is considered to be a very challenging country to go back-pack traveling.
