Ok so here it is the first entry in the "no sleep till heathrow" tour blog! It is Monday night here (22.48 to be precise) and it has taken us at least an hour to get to the stage of writing this blog, now some of you may think this is due to excess alcohol and us being otherwised engaged with some "Lady Boys", However, we can only apologise and say that this is due to the fact that Bangkok internet is about as quick as Doog (Tom Whatling) running to the gym! (for those of you that don't no him this doesn't happen often!).
We arrived in Bangkok on friday evening and got our first taste of what we had instore, after an 11 hour flight we weren't in the mood to be bothered by every man and his dog for a taxi and needless to say our english subtleness soon let them know we were fine.
We spent friday evening sampling a few local beers and decided to head to bed for a good sleep. Saturday morning feeling slightly jaded from the beer and flights we arose from our beds ready for a day full of adventure, after having the traditional thai breakfast of eggs and bacon we set about getting our selves into the city to explore. A taxi, underground and sky train later we finally arrived at a place called Siam, this is basically Blue Water, Cribbs Causeway (insert own large mall) of Thailand but is awash with young crazy thai teenagers on their weekend. After a day of wondering around looking in the shops we headed home practicing our Thai along the way, (Can now say Turn right, here, the underground station, hello and thankyou. Not bad however we're b*****ed if we need to turn left, oh well!)
Another lie in on Sunday morning (due to being out drinking litres of beer till 4.30am) we finally got ourselves ready to see more of thailand. After another traditional breakfast we headed to go and see the Grand Palace. After along taxi journey in the city traffic the driver dropped us off at what looked like a pier pointed up stream and said in his best english 'Grand Palace, long swim'. After minutes of laughter, he explained we needed a boat to get there. We decided to hire a private long boat and head into the village canals. This was well worth the money and saw a completely different side of Thailand from the day before. After eventually getting to the Grand Palace, we found after our tour we were too late (typical me and Brainer), however all was not lost as we got to see the giant standing Buddah.
Monday morning we decided to go and visit a place called Tony and Guy, now I know what you are thinking this sounds just like a hairdressers, well let me tell you, it is! One very very cheap and very good haircut later Brainer looked a new man! I on the other hand had looked in every shop The mall had to offer.................twice!
After 3 days in Bangkok we decided the smog and humidity wasn't for us any longer and have decided to move on. We are currently on the Isladnd of Ko Samet. One long journey and mosquito fight later we are having an great time but I will leave those stories for the next blog. Apologies if this seems short and to the point but after having realised Bangkok internet (which we have nicknamed Doog), had deleted all but the first paragraph of the best blog ever I was not in the mood to do it all again, plus the bar opens in 5!
Cheers for now
Ash and Brainer x
