NZ final day
Antartica
Christchurch is the gateway to the Antartic. That statement is pretty cool, and we learned quite a bit about Antartica today at the Antartic center. Like, did you know as a civilian you cannot live nor even GO to Antartica with the one exception of a very expensive cruise ship. That many nations in fact "own" Antartica as part of a treaty signed a long time ago. (OK, I don't have the year)
We got to experience the Anartic as it were in this room they actually freeze down to subzero temperatures with crazy winds to boot. It was freezing but fun and well worth it. We also got to see more of our furry little blue friends known as the little blue penguins.
We also spent the day in and around the town of Christchurch. We saw the Christchurch Cathedral which was pretty cool. Did I mention there was an actual Gypsy fair going on back in the town of Timaru? Very odd!
We even stopped into a nerd store (comics and games) to find a good game to keep us both occupied for our epic journey home. Epic this time meaning LONG. Though Oddly enough, we leave new Zealand tomorrow morning (Sunday at 5PM) and land in LA on Sunday at 7PM. Gaining back the day we lost coming here per say.
So, all in all....NZ was awesome, and Epic, and awesome, and Epic! and yeah....I can't stop saying those 2 adjectives, but trust me...if you ever come here, you'd be saying it too. Hell... I even downloaded the Fellowship of the ring to watch on the flight home. I've had LOTR's in my thoughts from the moment I got here. It's truly that Epic of a place. Would I ever come back here? I suppose that's highly doubtful considering the distance and cost, and the fact that I have so many other place on my "list" of places to go. BUT...New Zealand is way cool, and you all should go if ever given the chance. Great people. Great scenery. s***ty drivers, but Hey...thats my only negative. And when you are on a motorbike...most drivers are s***ty.
peace out everyone. We're on our way home
Till the next adventure
:)
