We finally get out of Yellowstone after 9 hours of National Parks and decided we should probably find a place to eat. As we are driving through snow storms which are accumulating on the ground we decide to stop at a rootbeer float/burger joint. It was the best we could do under the conditions in podunk Idaho.
We were planning on staying in Craters of the Moon National Forest but after doing some research we learned that it was much like the Badlands, windy all of the time. Considering the 30 degree temps combined with 30 mph winds we decided to push on.
Because of our change in location we had to make our way back to the main highways on smaller country type roads. James, the GPS took us through a town, and off the highway and as I cruised through town 45 mph in a 25 mph zone I was soon followed by a parade of flashing lights. Our first police encounter of our trip. I wonder who bet on idaho. After explaining why we were on the road at 2:30am we were let go with a verbal warning. Thankfully. We rolled into boise/meridian KOA which was mostly RV's. As we set up our tent at 3:45 am we were assaulted by sprinklers which led to a free night of camping courtesey of KOA.
