We have now oficially been robbed... Twice!!!
But I guess we should be polite, so Merry Cold and Rainy Christmas to you all!!! We are enjoying the NZ sun!
Oh and by the way, when you look at our blog, you might notice a link called travel plan, following that link will bring you to our, almost always semi current travelplan! You know just a bit of information!!
Well we dont have that much time so we better begin our little tale. Today it begins right after we left you the last time to go to the beach, as we were walking along the road two guys came and pursesnatched Trines bag. (It was rather annoying actually, seeing as I had just given her money to buy music, and what does she do, she trows her bags at the first couple of local criminals she can find! It's just so typical... And some people wonder why I never let her have any money, really!!). We continued onward to the beach, so we could contact Kakada and have him help us with the whole policebuisness. Arriving there Isabel (the German) took us under her wing and made sure we were fed and did not suddently develop any signs of PTSD. It was quite nice having someone there to talk and get food. When Kakada arrived we went to the policestation, in order for us to fill out a raport. Arriving there most of the policeforce was playing Volleyball in the courtyard, and the chief of the Tourist police could not even say Hello in english. Kakada told us later it was because he had bought his position rather than earned it... Comforting! Anyways after we had filled out the raport, we had to pay the guy 5 dollars in order for him to give us a copy of the raport. Hence the reason we thought we had been robbed twice. After we were done we were forced to look at pictures of stabvictims and German pedofiles for half an hour, before the guy let us go... That was more traumatising than the actual event that let us to come to the station.
Anyway, the day after we left for Phnom Penh. We went on a guided tour of S-21, Pol Pots prison, and the killing fields. It was a hard experience, the Khemer Rouge were in some ways more frightening than Hitler, with all their tourture. Even Children were interrogated. And to think that it happende so recently. Our guide lost a brother, and both his grandparents to the Khemer Rouge.
After having completed the tour we went to se Kakadas language school. Yes our guide owned a school... He really was a very good person. We spend an hour there teaching to different classes. It was actually really nice to get to souround ourselves with children after a whole day of death and destruction.
After a Night in Phnom Penh we went to Kampot Cham, where we spend another day. Tuz went on a biketrip, and suprisingly enough Trine opted to stay home. On the trip we went to a Pagoda, were they thought underpriviliged children English, and we spent about another hour or so teaching some classes again. It was very nice.
The next day we went to Siem Riep. The first day, we went on a full day trip to a fishingvillage. On the way to the village we stopped at an orphanage. We watched the children perform traditional dancing, and spent about an hour or so playing with them, and reading to them, befor we had lunch and went on to the boat that was to take us to the village. It was a little sad to say goodbye, because all the children were really cute! The boattrip ant the floating village were very interesting. It is interesting to see how different these peoples way of life were compared to ours. But the most interesting part of that day was still the visit to the orphanage.
The next day we got up befor 5 am. to go to the Angkor complex. There are over 200 tempels at Angkor, so we only visited a select few. The first temple we saw was the Cambodian national pride, Angkor Wat. It is the largest temple at Angkor. It was very impressive. Next we saw the gates of the city of Angkor Thom (the name means big city.. lol). It had large stonecarvings of the myth of Turning the Sea of Milk. The next temple we saw was the Tomb Raider temple, and no that is not its original name, but it was the temple used in the first Tomb Raider movie. We liked that one the best, because it had really big cool trees groving on top of it everywhere. The last temple we saw, was the Pink temple. It was a temple made of pink sandstone. It had really beautiful, and intricate carvings on almost every surface.
The next day we left for the Thai border. The bus journey was a bit hard, because the "gravelroad" we were on had potholes the size of Grand Canyon.
We arrived in Bangkok around five, with significantly large bruises on our butts, but there was no rest for us, because we had to get ready for our final groupdinner. After dinner we went out and got really s***faced at bars filled with ugly, old, western men fondeling young Thai women... Sextourism lives on!! EEw!
Well people we have to cut this little story short, as we are almost out of time, but fear not we will continue this dramatic tale next time we beame onto this page!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
