The Hardest Thing I Will Ever Do....... 3 Day Jungle Trek!! (Check out the mountains on the pic.. We climbed them!)
Hi all, hope you are well.... Taking the time to update my journal as these computers are fast and i dont have to wait for 5 mins to see what ive typed!
Well, firstly go the night train up from Ayuttayah.. Was mad. We got onto a carridge full of beds. One up one down.. Some mad little Thai man comes along with his face mask on and makes your bed.... 12 hours later and we were woken up for breakfast and mad Thai man made our beds into seats again.. Apparently this is "second Class".... The train went about as fast as i could run but was a really good experience!
Arrived in Chaing Mai and our Guesthouse has a pool (YAY!) Its so bloody hot everywhere you need a pool! Stayed one night and the next day we headed out on our 3 day Jungle Trek.. The agent in Bangkok who we booked it with said "oh, it easy time. You have fun, no hard trek"........ What a f***ing liar!! (sorry mam)....... Went bamboo rafting the first day which is pretty much the same as white water rafting but not as harsh and you dont get any safety gear, had our lunch and stared our trek... Pretty fair going at first until we hit the hills, actually, no, rephrase that... Mountains/slopes. My bag was killing my back and considering the only other girl there was 5"10 my little legs couldnt keep up with everyone. Was worth it when we made it to the waterfall. Bikini on, swim! Trekked again and nearly died but made it to a shack and had a camp fire with beer etc and headed off the next day, no little 30 mins tourist walk tho, 1 hours trek at a time uphill in the blistering heat.. I totally gave up at one point, i seriously was considering just setting up camp there on the slope i couldnt climb and just meeting everyone at the bottom in 2 days time. Paul carried my bag for a little cos im such a lazy b**** i couldnt keep going uphill.. In the end our guide got some tribesman from the village we were heading for to give me a backa on his moped for the reast of the way (score!)... Rest of the treck after lunch was bearable. Saw some beautiful watefalls and the last camp we made it to had a waterfall we had to get washed in which was good, best power shower you can get!..
All in all, treck was good but hard, having to wee in a hole in the ground wasnt appealing hence the reason i only went to the toilet 3 times in 3 days and i drank copious amounts of Chang beer. lol!... Topped off the trek with an Elephant ride, feeding it bananas wit our very own Mowgli (the guides nephew, stayed with us the whole trip. Was the smallest 12 yr old but the cutest little guy. Totally befriended Paul.. actually, he's just walked in and sat down next to me. Ahh).
Got back yesterday and chilled by the pool as we havent been anywhere to tan properly yet. Heading out to watch the Maui Thai boxing tonight and Paul wants to see a c*** fight?! (I mean the bird) Dont fancy that but sure the boxing will be good as we watched them put on a show last night and Paul rekons it's brutal!!
Anyways, two more days here then we are heading to Laos over the border on the river.. Two days so thats probably where i'll be for my birthday. Will update soon and when i get back to bangkok (hopefully for the water festival) i'll upload my own pics.
Lots of love
