Well we got off to a belated start by about an hour, but at least we were off. Arrived in Burra to a disappointing "sorry the caravan park is full" (would you believe it) anyway they directed us to the overflow show grounds, cheap $10 a night with power and warm shower. We got the key to the town, (a self guided tour) visited the old copper mines, gaol, police station & brewery. Quite a nice way to look around this lovely little town. People very friendly, the caretaker of the show grounds, even brings us fire wood each night for our campfire, what a great chap.
We went for a drive out to Burra creek gorge and had lunch, a bit of a look around and then headed back to camp. Lyla needed to have a bath as she had exploded her nappy and the dried boogie on her face needed chiseling off, (I think she has her first cold) now she is beautiful again.
A gourmet lamb rack roast meal was cooked by the master chef (Trent) on the cobb cooker. Early morning bike rides are out of the question here, as the seats are frozen in the morning and not that enjoyable to sit on, so yes it does get very cold overnight, but we are warm in the van. We have pretty much rearranged the van since monday, putting things in more appropriate places and it seems more spacious now, we haven't even really forgotten anything to important, a decent torch and thermos is all we think of, will find these along the way.
Plan to have a one night stop in Woomera next and then somewhere after that. Thanks for all the well wishes for our adventures it is nice to read them and no Lachlan isn't missing school yet, however he hasn't been to school with dad as the teacher yet, things may change.
