Now at Uluru (Ayers rock) arrived on monday afternoon and will have been here for three nights. We didn't tackle the climb up to the top of Ayers rock as we thought it would be a bit dangerous especially seeing Trent would have had to carry Lyla up there in the backpack and of course it can get quite windy, consequently this did not please Lachlan. Instead we took the easier option and walked the 10 km base walk, except we parked in the wrong car park and ended up walking about 12 kms, poor Trent did 14 kms because he had to go and get the car, Lachlan wasn't going to take another step after completing the loop. Not a bad effort for a 10 year old, Lyla of course had a great time as her little toes didn't even touch the ground.
We ventured out to the Olga's today and managed a short walk into the gorge, did a little bit of bike riding in the afternoon, but really we were quite tired & so relaxed around the van.
Lachlan has had two on line school classes, but the first one was a fizzer as the teacher couldn't hear him, all sorted now. He is very keen to attend his lessons and enjoying the work, so far, time may change things. Heading towards King's Canyon tomorrow, excellent another big walk Lachlan will be impressed.
Oh the whether has been lovely about 23d, but cools down at night. Lyla has taken a liking to waking at about 2 am (not happy) and if she doesn't wake us up, the howling dingoes at dawn do, seriously they sound like they are right outside the van.
