1058 Depart Narbonne. We rode our bikes from our hosts place on the canal du robine to the train station, making sure we were early as we were not quite sure how or where the bikes needed to go on the train. Its all so simple, they book your seats in the same carriage as you put the bikes in, there were only 4 places for bikes to be hung up and not easy to get them into place, we had a french guy help us as he seemed to have the knack! The train journey seemed to drag on and on - maybe it was because we got stuck next to some grumpy frenchies who were actually sitting in other peoples seats, to our amazement the young girl with the surly look on her face, just wouldn't move!! Pascal kept giving her the evil eye and I had to put him in my bag in the end.
Arrived St Jean Bordeaux, we have been here many times before so it was all very familiar. We had a 8km ride to the north of Bordeaux along the promenade to our air bnb studio room. It had been described as an up and coming area - not to me it was rough perhaps a taste of the real Bordeaux. Our room was small but very clean and we had our own bathroom so we were glad we had the bikes to cruise around, it was only to sleep. The hosts - parents had gone on holiday and the main house felt like a hostel. The home of 7 children and they rent out rooms to people as well. We had choosen this because it talked of a french family and we were able to have breakfast and dinner with them so that wasnt going to happen!! I think we got hood winked again, should have stayed central in an apartment, then we could have cookex our own food, now it means eating out. We got breakfast sorted by buying muesli and asking for some bowls, they provided cafe so at least that would kick us into action.
