We jumped on the 3.50pm train bound for Limoge for our next house sit looking after 2 Golden Retrievers, India 12 years old & Dakota just a pup at 12 months old. Three hours later we arrived, the trains are fantastic in France, warm, comfortable & always seem to be on time. It certainly paid to book your tickets well in advance as I checked out the cost to buy via the ticket machines at the station and the cost came up at 60 Euros each instead of the 15 each we had paid. Jules & Andy were there to meet us at Limoge station, we had arrived, we are here for six weeks, time for some serious bike trip planning & training.
It was really cold, we thought we spotted snow out of the train window 10 minutes before we arrived into Limoge!!! 45 minutes later we arrived in Cheissoux, its pretty strange being driven in the dark to somewhere you have no idea where you are going with people you don't really even know........ The dogs came bounding to the door to welcome us. We were given such a warm welcome by Jules & Andy, a home cooked meal, a few red wines and felt like we had known this couple for ages.
Next morning Rod walked the dogs with Jules, I had a stinking head cold and it was raining so I wasn't keen to get wet. Jules then drove us around the local area, showing us a couple of towns, where the supermarkets are, the vets, etc. That evening they had put on a Soiree to meet people in the village so we would have some contacts and not feel isolated, such a lovely thing to do and so caring. People just kept arriving, 20 people in all I think, a mix of French & English, it was a wonderful few hours chatting and great for us.
We took Jules & Andy to the Airport and found our way home without any trouble even though it did seem a little daunting going, on this road, onto this motorway off that onto another, could have just been because we were tired and my head cold was heavy. We arrived home to another excited welcome from the dogs, we looked at each other and said how did we get here, laughed - travelling & house sitting it certainly is an adventure.........
